A card game on the diversity of student paths in higher education
Aim of the project

Mille Crédits is a card game created to increase awareness among students about gender inequalities experienced in a university context. Born out of a collective project with a social vision as part of a master's seminar, I was hired as game designer by Professor Consuelo Vasquez to develop the project in order to make it available to the student and faculty community at the Université du Québec à Montréal.

-
Writing
The game's scenarios come from stories shared by the student community. Once the stories were collected, I analyzed and categorized them by adding themes and characters.
-
Game Design
The rules of the game must allow the players to discuss the situations and put themselves in the shoes of the characters. Inspired by the game Mille Borne, I adapted the mechanics to reflect the academic journey with the accumulation of course "credits". The red cards represent the obstacles that students have encountered and the green cards, the solutions that address the problems.
-
UX / UI Design
In collaboration with the graphic designer, I established the list of constraints for the icons and the visual style of the cards for each category.
