Aim of the project
The objective of this project was to provide a detailed and up-to-date overview of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the Quebec video game industry. Led by Professor Gabrielle Trépanier-Jobin, PhD, and funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC/CRSH), the study aimed to identify key challenges, understand their manifestations in studios, and explore their root causes. The study uncovered systemic issues, workplace dynamics, and highlighted actionable areas for meaningful change.
Key components included:
Survey 1: 1,532 employees addressed topics such as mental health, pay equity, discrimination, harassment, and working conditions.
Survey 2: 57 managers from 291 studios shared their perceptions of DEI and measures implemented to diversify teams.

Collaboration with La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec
This research project was conducted in part with La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec, an organization representing 330 member studios. As part of this research, I contributed to the development of their DEI Best Practice Guide, providing insights and recommendations to help studios implement inclusive and equitable workplace practices.
